OUR STORY

The name "Cake'd At 3918" pays homage to the sweet and fond memories at my beloved late grandparents home in Montgomery, Alabama. Spending an enormous amount of my childhood there, the numerical portion of their address, "3918", holds great sentimental significance. The inside symbolized unconditional love, abiding faith, and tradition. These were the main ingredients of the recipe, that "cake'd" our family together. Watching my grandmother, Mrs. Annie L. Thomas, spend countless hours skillfully baking for our family, friends, and others upon request are the moments I cherish the most. She was surely beyond her time with talent and creativity!

The original "Cakery" began many years ago out of my grandmother's kitchen. There, recipes were cultivated into what they are now. As a special treat, she would always give us (her grandchildren) the spoon, beaters, and bowl to lick the batter once the cake was in the oven! In our family, we never knew store bought cakes existed! I know now what I didn't know then...those moments with her in the kitchen were about more than left over batter on a spoon.
